Summary
The handsome Janko is best man and beautiful Luce maid of honour at their friends’ wedding. After a passionate night in Zagreb they drift apart, believing it was not meant to be. What they don’t know is that life will bring them together again very soon, through their feuding families in a small town they cannot leave.
After a financial breakdown and accusations, Janko’s father Aljoša Gotovac is unexpectedly taken from detention by his godfather Stipan Macan, bringing him, his wife, son and daughter Lara back to his hometown of Zaglave. The Gotovac’s life changes dramatically. They come from Zagreb to a village torn by the construction of the road that could bring prosperity and money to an otherwise poor region. The village is divided. Old Stipan Macan and his son Vinko on one side and everybody else, led by the cunning Zvone Akrap, on the other. The arrival of the Gotovac godfathers only stirs things up further. His entire life, old Stipan has been keeping the secret that Aljoša is in fact his illegitimate son, but truth finds a way to come out.
It will be up to brothers and rivals Vinko and Aljoša to either join forces and save the village from what turns out to be Akrap’s scam or to take the battle for Stipan’s estate even further and end up losing everything. Will Janko and Luce’s love be stronger than family feuds and can they bring peace to the warring parties is to be seen in the exciting episodes of this suspenseful drama series.
